Newly elected Town Councillor Jon Hubbard has expressed his thanks to the people of Melksham Spa following his emphatic victory in last months by-election.
Jon won the election with an substantial majority of 151 over the Conservative. Labour saw their support crumble to just 8% of the vote.
Speaking after the result was announced Jon said, “I am humbled that the people of this great town have put so much trust in me.
“During the campaign I was overwhelmed by the support from people as I called round visiting residents across the ward.
“Now that we know the result we can get down to work. Throughout the campaign, and before through our Resident’s Surveys, people told us about issues that need to be dealt with and we will be continuing our all-year-round work dealing with issues that matter to local people.
Prospective Lib Dem MP Duncan Hames was delighted to see Jon win saying “This is the fourth time in less than a year that local people have preferred the Liberal Democrats to the Conservatives in the new Chippenham constituency. It looks like the next election will be very close here”.Leave a comment
