Wiltshire Liberal Democrats have launched their Manifesto for the Wiltshire Council Election campaign.
“The manifesto explains what the Liberal Democrats will do if we win control of the Council on June 4th” explains local Town Councillor Jon Hubbard. The nine page document gives firm commitments on a number of important policy areas such as tax, roads & transport, crime & anti-social behaviour, education, and recycling.
Jon Hubbard said: “We have committed ourselves to putting an end to the Conservatives’ inflation-busting tax rises and to saving millions by cutting back on Conservative plans to increase the size of Council bureaucracy and renovate Council offices.”
Jon continued: “Our other key commitments include taking better care of Wiltshire’s neglected roads and introducing door-step collections of plastics and cardboard for the whole of Wiltshire. We will also be working to double the numbers of local policing teams over the next four years to combat anti-social behaviour.”
Jon said: “One of the commitments I am most passionate about is restoring local decision making across Wiltshire. The Conservatives have abolished our District Councils and taken away the right of Parish and Town Councils to ‘call in’ planning applications. We will restore that right and make sure that local people have the chance to comment on the decisions that affect them.”
