Speaking at the Melksham Area Board, Wiltshire leisure services political boss, Conservative Councillor Stewart Wheeler this evening confirmed that the town’s Blue Pool is under threat.
When asked by Melksham South Councillor Jon Hubbard (Lib Dem) “Is Melksham’s Blue Pool safe” the reply was “I don’t know”.
Cllr Wheeler went on to say that there was a leisure review taking place across the county and, until this was completed, he was unable to say what would be happening.
Speaking after the meeting Cllr Jon Hubbard said, “This is just incredible. At tonight’s meeting Cllr Wheeler stated that he wanted to make Wiltshire the healthiest council in the country. This is good stuff, but how is he going to deliver this if he can’t even tell us if a town the size of Melksham will have a swimming pool or not”.
Cllr Hubbard continued, “I appreciate he is conducting a review of facilities and that some things may have to change. But what we are seeing here is the worst form of political behaviour – making all the promises before an election without a clue how they will be delivered. Let’s have some facts, not empty promises.Leave a comment
